Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Posted by

To our valued customers and suppliers,

President Trump recently declared a state of emergency and public health emergency amid the growing number of COVID-19 coronavirus outbreaks in the region.  As a precaution to keep our employees and their families as safe as possible, effective Monday March 16, 2020, Chase Plastics has implemented a plan to allow our team to work remotely for the next 2 weeks, at minimum.  This decision was made to ensure the health and safety of our team, as well as to do our part as a private business to help thwart the advance of this virus.

Chase Plastics’ Business Continuity Team has been planning for this situation, or an unexpected event, for decades.  We are prepared.  Our employees are set up technologically to continue to deliver the Outrageous Customer Service that you have come to expect from Chase Plastics.

Chase Plastics has been in constant contact with our supply base to ensure that there has not been a disruption in supply of the thermoplastic resin that we distribute.  To date, we have confirmed that none of our products are currently directly affected by the coronavirus outbreak in any of the affected countries.

We have recently experienced some extensions, up to two weeks, on lead-times from our suppliers with manufacturing locations in Asia Pacific and Europe due to logistical limitations.  As a stocking distributor, Chase Plastics is making the necessary internal adjustments to our stocking levels, plus proactively notifying customers individually on any lead-time extensions.

Additionally, we are working extremely close with our warehousing and logistical networks to ensure that our customers deliveries arrive on time, as expected.  To date, we have not experienced disruptions; however, we will continue to manage with our supply chain partners.

We continue to monitor the latest and most accurate information on this virus through the Centers of Disease Control (CDC).  We will remain in constant communication with our supply base and will proactively notify our valued customers of any potential or expected disruption in supply or extended lead-times.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your Chase Plastics’ Account Manager or Service Specialist.

Thank you in advance,

Adam Paulson

Vice President of Operations

Twenty companies have made Plastics News’ seventh annual Best Places to Work list. The winner will be announced at PN’s Executive Forum, held Feb. 24-26 in Naples, Fla.

Some companies have their own “currency” that can be traded in for cash or gift cards. Others give team members free trips. Several have potlucks, wellness programs and appreciation awards for years of service. No two are the same, but they all have satisfied employees.

In the Best Places to Work employee benchmark report, of companies that made the top 20 list, 96 percent of employees indicated they enjoy the work they do and 94 percent feel “very satisfied” with their employer. Additionally, 95 percent felt safety is a top priority at their organization.

Chase Plastics breaks ground on South Bend warehouse expansion – Capacity to increase by 60%

Posted by

Originally built in South Bend in 2016, Chase Plastics’ state-of-the-art central distribution center is slated for a major expansion in 2019. The addition, which officially broke ground on June 18, increases the total warehouse capacity by more than 60% with an added 80,000 square feet of storage, giving a total capacity of 206,000 square feet. Five additional loading docks are planned for the facility as well as new racking, equipment upgrades, and more, helping drive operational efficiencies with increased material throughput of approximately 33%.

While the building has only been in existence for a little more than three years, the need for the $4 million expansion was apparent due to the Company’s product line growth and, above all, the desire to consistently provide “outrageous service” to their customers.  “The investment in this warehouse is not just an investment in the community, but also for our customers,” said Mike Hall, Warehouse Manager. “This enables greater stocking capacity and the ability to offer our customers value-added services including custom blending, box to bulk, material repackaging and later cut-off times all focused on meeting customer material requirements in the dynamic market where they compete.”
